It's New Year's Resolution Time!

It's time again for those New Year's Resolutions. UGH... I have never, ever been big on the whole New Year's Resolution thing. I have to say, it always amuses me, too, to see the January crowd at the gym. I don't get why the change of a page on the calendar gets people so charged up. Anyway, ...

I don't really have any "Resolutions" this year, but I do have some goals I'd like to reach (which are sort of on going from this year):

  1. Be back in my goal range (hopefully sometime around March or April)
  2. Work with my nutritionist to create a sustainable maintenance plan
  3. Be between 15 & 18% body fat (evaluated by the "dunk" test)
  4. Be able to do a set of "squat jump onto box" using 2 - 2 ½ boxes (Currently at 1 ½ boxes)
  5. Be able to complete a 20-mile bike ride.
  6. Be more fit than I have ever been

My goals are more health and fitness based than they have ever been and I'm pleased about that. It shows a great change in my thinking and values.

Any one else want to share his or her goals for the upcoming year? We may be able to inspire others in addition to giving ourselves a focus.

Nice set of goals, Kairk.  Mine are going to be more general.

  1. Continue commitment to healthy eating and maintaining my goal weight. (health)
  2. Continue contributing information and support to the OH community.      (service)
  3. Redefine and recommit to my volunteerism after my shift out of my nonprofit work.   (service)
  4. Continue to travel and "collect memories" and maximize new experiences.  (quality of life)
  5. Organize my time in retirement better to enhance knowledge, education and spiritual development. (quality of life)
  6. Strengthen relationships with family and friends.  (relationships)

I think that's a good start.  family, friends, service, self-care and quality life.  Works for me!

best wishes,
Carol

I don't make New Year's resolutions. I make a resolution every morning when I wake up to follow my plan, exercise, and do whatever I can to increase my health and fitness. It's strictly one day at a time for me.

  1. Recover as quick as I can and start exercising regularly. This includes getting back to the long walks with the hubby.
  2. Start my doctorate in the fall.
  3. Work on a plan to reign in my out of control debt.
  4. As of this moment, I am 10 pounds under goal. I want to maintain this (once recovery is done- expecting more loss from this).

Happy New Year!

Well, I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but this year I think I can stick with them.

  1. Get to my weight loss goal of 145 pounds. Only 18.7 pounds to go.
  2. Make a quilt every month that I can give to a local charity
  3. Measure and weigh everything I eat and log into MyFitnessPal every day
  4. Go back to the gym that is prepaid for the next year and 3 months
  5. Travel, travel, travel as much as possible

I can't wait to see what this year brings, but it has to be better than this last year.

How wonderful that you are making quilts for a local charity.  I used to make quilts and donate them to raise money for orphanages thru a local adoption agency.

Travel is also a wonderful goal.  I'm making up for lost time - all those years when I didn't fit in an airplane seat and when it hurt to walk any distance.  My hubby and I are going to New Zealand and Australia this winter.  Enjoy your travel.

Happy New Year!

Love the quilting goal! I've sent a few to Quilts for Kids, but I haven't done much sewing over the past few years. Maybe it's time to do another!

My Grandparents used to make both quilts and "lap robes" for the local chapter of the Lions Club and Red Cross. Their dedication to helping others instilled a sense of service in me.

Quilts are particularly special to me because of the individuality, creativity, love and dedication that goes into each one. I have several that I cherish! Kudos to you for your dedication to your charity.
