STRESS EATING

Hello my fellow VSGers.  I have been very very slack on doing any postings on here since being back from visiting my daughter (got back end of September).  Boy how time flies.  The visit was great.  But since then, life has not been so great.

I have come to the conclusion, or realization I should say, that I am definitely a stress eater.  OMG.. Me, stress??? Nah!!!  I have unintentionally put myseld in a maintenance mode, I do believe.  I have gained 3# then lost it, so basically maintaining 168-170 the past couple of months.

I had an umbilical hernia repair mid October, no gym until healed.  My car literally died on me.  I bought a cheap older car that I have had for 2 weeks, it needs a transmission now, won't move.  My septic totally stopped up so we could only flush the commodes twice a day.  We drew straws for the shower.. (LOL only kidding on that one).  Major water leak under the house.  3 days without ho****er.  Dr informs me I need back and neck surgery but he cannot do it here.  I need to go to Duke in Raleigh.  Not gonna happen anytime soon as far as I am concerned.  Have had neck surgery before (2011) and was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months because I had a stroke while there (have recovered nicely from that episode though).  But not ready to do that again.  Oldest daughter that lives with me, not working.  Oh and the dryer decided not to work also.  I am sure I could add to this but I think that covers a major part of it.  Now mind you, I do not have a significant other that can do anything handyman style around here (my husband passed away last year) and I am on very limited income.  So stress???? No Problem, Right..

Sorry for venting like this on here.  I just had to get it out and take a deep breath and say:

Lord it's your turn,I know that you won't give me more than together we cannot handle.  But I sure feel overloaded right about now.  Take over for awhile, will Ya?  Please?

Thanks for bending an ear.  Love y'all and have a very Merry Christmas and a safe, Happy New Year..

I've been through a lot recently myself and stress eating is a real problem.  I contemplate everything before I buy it or eat out. I ask myself if it will help me or hurt me and will it make me feel better or worse.  One decision at a time.

Hang in there, Pam!  I hope you feel better soon.  :)

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Pam, I'm so sorry that you have had to endure all these things the past few months. Not nice at all! (understatement, huh?) My sincere best to you!

You know, one way to look at it is this: A lot of what is happening to and around you is beyond your control. There is absolutely nothing you can do about some of it. You can though control your food intake and that might actually help you feel more in control of things. Things that you can not control may be wreaking havoc, but you can still control what is within your power to control. No sense in letting the stress that surrounds you control what you eat.

I find that when I am deliberately taking care of myself, that things around me fall more easily into place. Hey, it's worth giving it a try, right? If it's too much, nothing lost, and you can go back to what was "working".

Hope you are feeling better and stronger for having had your say.

I am glad you vented!  Vent anytime! I am pretty impressed that you have maintained rather than regained.  I hope for you the very best over the holidays and 2016!

Hugs to you, Pam!  The only suggestion I have is one moment at a time.  Unfortunately, I do not have a magic wand.  Best wishes.

Hi Pam,

Stress is a big factor this time of year.  Hang in there.  I hope the new year brings much joy and peace.
