I'm currently purple, some shade of purple for the past couple years but I mix the colors so I never quite know what it's going to look  like until it's on.

I believe everyone's crazy... Universal Insanity theory. But the ones who are scary are the ones who don't know they're crazy.

But I'll take INTERESTING weird. :)

Don't sweat it. If it's a three hour appt. you'll get a pen and paper test (multiple choice type of thing) and a questionnaire. You'll probably only meet with the psych for 1.5 hours, if that.

Be glad you only have one shrink appt. I had to go through 2. The first to be accepted in the program and the second to be cleared for surgery. The psychologist I saw was an disordered eating specialist and extremely supportive. Probably didn't hurt that she was "in house" with my bariatic center.

It makes sense that the centers would look specifically for those who specialize. You gotta figure that it would be necessary for many patients.

Maybe that's the answer for Barney... seek a bariatric center even if not intending to seek surgery through them...

My psych evaluation was 3 hours as well. Did the MMPI which is 300 true/false questions done via computer. The did about a 1.5 hour interview with Psychiatric doctor. Yes they ask about childhood, your parents martial relationship, if you were abused at all, what you plan to do if you encounter obstacles with weight loss, what you think contributed to your weight, if you have/had substance abuse issues, mine also did a short memory test to make sure my mental capacity is tip top. I wouldn't worry about your looks or eccentricities. My hair was teal and dark purple and I had a septum piercing at the time of my psych evaluation. I'm also a bit of an oddball but the doctor said she wasn't worried in the least bit about me having surgery even when I told her about my anxiety and depression. Good luck and try not to stress!

Thank you :) Yesterday after I posted initially, I decided the only thing I could really do about it was dress as professionally as possible, and that included a fresh dye job... my purple is now darned near aubergine... though it will lighten over the next six weeks to something closer to fuchsia.

Okay, feeling better today. I have tons of other things to more legitimately stress about... I'm all about self-awareness the past few years(can't write well without it), I just don't like to talk about it. It's worth three hours of social anxiety to do this.
