Do you know if they can see sludge on an ultrasound?

They told me they did not see stones, but that does not mean I did not have them. And that my BG was enlarged and most Iikely inflamed.

I was in so much pain - suspected hernia (had one) that they had to operate anyway... Once they went in - the GB was inflamed and the biopsy after surgery showed that it was diseases... great it came out..

There is drug on the market that helps with sludge and keeps you from forming stones.  It is called Ursodial here in Canada and I asked my surgeon to put me on it post surgery.  I took it for the first year and no problems.  I have started to get symptoms again (4 years out) so need to do ultrasound and see what the situation is.  Of course if you are full of stones then surgery may be your only option. Good luck.

I am familiar with the drug. They tried to put me on it a couple of years ago, but I had a super weird reaction to it- kidneys stopped working, had a ton of fluid buildup, and other unsavory side effects. They took me off because it was doing more damage then the gallbladder risk was worth.
