Happy Birthday! I started a few weeks after my birthday. I just turned 44. I won't say that I wished I had it done 10 years earlier because I wasn't ready for it back then. Plus the vsg wasn't even covered by my insurance. I wasn't in the right mind set back then. I feel you have to be really ready mentally in order to be ready for all the challenges ahead in order for wls to be successful & lucky you, you sound like you're ready! Good luck to you on your weight loss journey!

Thank You! This is how I felt about it as well. I still always felt like I could do it on my own but after a while I just had to admit that my body wasn't cooperating! I'm so grateful that vsg popped up as an option. It's the only weight loss surgery that I'd of ever considered and I'm even more grateful that I was able to get it covered by my insurance. Also, if it hadn't been for trying to get this surgery my sleep apnea never would have been diagnosed so it's not a decision I've found myself regretting yet. Thank God for that because that regret was something I was very worried about.

If you feel like quitting, think of why you started.

I got my bachelor's degree at 35, my WLS at 38, and I'll get my master's degree at 39.  One of the people who volunteers where I work is getting her first degree at 75!

It's never too late to love life and have a great start!  Congrats on your birthday and renewed life!

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
