How long was your process before actually having the surgery?

From my WLS seminar, 2 years and 2 months, but only because my insurance had a two-year waiting period in addition to (but able to be combined with) the 6 months of pre-op classes. From my welcome group session, it was almost exactly 7 months.

For most, if you have to do the 6 months of weight loss visits it can take a while. I had to do that and my process was about 8 months. The first month to month and a half just finding out what all I needed to do. I started in March and had my surgery Nov 11th. Finished my weight loss visits Oct 1st. Aside from the visits it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months.

If you feel like quitting, think of why you started.

From my first seminar to surgery, it took 3 months.

It's more your insurance that determines how long the process is than the surgeon.  I had Paramount Elite, and they require that you see the dietician once a month for 3 months.  From my seminar (late June) to surgery (November 16), was about 5 months.  That is considered pretty quick, from what I am seeing.

I think the average in 7 months but it differs from person to person and insurance to insurance. I got very lucky, went to my seminar is the second week of October (10/14/15) and I was able to quickly get all my pre-op steps done: EKG, Blood work, psych evaluation are all that I was required to do, and my surgery is 12/23/15. I am on my 2 week modified diet where I get one solid food meal a day and the rest are protein shakes. on 12/8/15 I got to my 2 week pre-op appointment and get put on liquid only. Good luck!

It depends on what your insurance requires and your surgeon. I had to do 3 months of supervised weight loss, a psych eval, EKG, a consultation with a dietician and labs. The whole process took about 6 months. My surgery is scheduled for 12/29

A lot has to do with your insurance requirements. I planned to have it done two years ago, but another medical issue popped up. This time I went to the seminar on August 30 and had the surgery on October 12
