healthy BMI at 11 months (now down 164.5 lbs since surgery) PICS!

Hello!  Several days ago, just a few days before my 11 month surgiversary, I dropped to 142.5 which gave me a BMI of 24.8, a healthy BMI!  And since my ticker won't update, I feel the need to point out that I am now at 139.5. So I am now down 164.5 lbs  since day of surgery. (I also lost about 55 lbs in the 6 months before surgery.)

These results are so unexpected.  My goals tend to be more about sticking to plan/behaviors rather than a number on a scale.  But, really, who doesn't dream about where that number on the scale will eventually reach?

My initial OH weight goal was to be right where obesity meets overweight because that was the goal the bariatric nurse gave me. I thought that was a really low bar.  Didn't she know that I planned to be exceptional? I said nothing but silently hoped that giving up 85% of my stomach would net me more than that.

Once I passed into being just overweight, I made my new goal to reach the very top of my healthy BMI range.  And now that I am to that point?  I have no idea.  I'm just going to keep on with what I have been doing and reassess over time.  If any of you have thoughts, I would love to hear them!

I am mindful that the vets say to expect regain so I want to plan as best I can for that.  I am also mindful that my weight loss will markedly slow which will be frustrating.  But, I can handle frustrating when so much else is going well.

This all seems surreal. I feel giddy with the fast changes.

I am glad that I didn't accept the meager goal set out by the bariatric nurse for me. (It wasn't her fault, she had a template to fill out and that is what was considered "successful.")  But, never in a million years did I think I would be at this weight just 11 months out.  Truly amazing! I am so grateful!!!!!!  I also realize that there is a bit of luck in this, too.   But, honestly, if this works for me, I know it can work for all of you, too.

You know what? I have never, ever, posted a picture to the internet.  Now I am going to post 2 and they are both of my bum.

Below is my azz on crackers.  By the way, this is not my heaviest. In fact, this was after a year of cancer treatment so I was down a few pounds.  Don't worry, those pounds came back plus another 70 or so.

And below is my azz today on crackslaw (and yoga)

Thanks so much for indulging my ramblings!  Best wishes to you all, no matter what stage you are in!  ~Shel

(Fingers crossed as I submit this that the post doesn't become a jumbled mess!)
