Holy heck Qdoba!

Wanted to go out to dinner with the hubby, and we have been missing our son who moved out 2 weeks ago. He loves Qdoba, so called him up to offer him a bribe meal and it totally worked! Bad news is, even though I thought I was ordering carefully, it appears to not be true. Unbelievable how high the calorie content is there! Went with a kids portion of gumbo that had pulled pork, pinto beans and cheese on top. Very protein based and crazy filling (unable to finish)- but apparently 600 or calories. Tough to say given nothing is measured per se, but DAMN! Good thing my calories were really low up until that point!

Isn't it amazing how high in calories restaurant food is. What's nice now is that most have menus posted online so you can plan before you get there.  And if it's a chain, even better for planning because they're linked in with apps like mfp. Sounds like you enjoyed your visit!

It is crazy how high some restaurant foods can be!  Agree with the previous poster, that I would check it out online/on your phone and see if they have the nutritional info.  That can help with making the best selection.  What you had may have been the healthiest options available :)  Glad the day worked out for you overall!

I am often shocked by how high the calorie content is for foods.  I sometimes order fajita's at a Mexican restaurant, and eat only about half of  the meat, cheese and veggies, and its still a lot of calories - on par with your meal last night.  My hubby loves eating out, and he can eat his meal, and half of mine and still maintain his weight!  its just not fair! But we've known that all along.

So I avoid eating out as much as I can.

Best wishes,

Carol

Before I had the sleeve, I would go to Applebees and order the oriental chicken salad, thinking I was making a healthier choice than some of the other options.  Turns out I was SO wrong.  Check out the calorie content some time if you like this salad!  It is crazy.

I hear all of you on checking the nutrition online prior. Normally this is what I do, but I had maxed out my data on the phone. Ugh. I made the same mistake once with that salad from Applebees. That was when I realized that many of the entree salads at most places can easily top 800 calories. Go figure you can muck up a plate of vegetables that badly. Leave it to the Americans to figure out how!
