So I know I have weeks before I can eat real food, but I love cooking. What have you determine is your favorite recipe? That works with our new lifestyle?

Thanks!

Get a nice ribeye. Put it on the grill. Flip it over after maybe 5 minutes. Wait another 5 minutes. Eat it.

Best recipe ever.

I stuck to beef tenderloin from 8 weeks until maybe four months, just because it was more tender. I tried ground beef, but tenderloin and ribeye were actually easier than ground beef for a while. It didn't seem to make sense, being ground, but I guess it's because it was crappier cuts of meat to begin with that it sat heavier. Deli meats, ham in particular, were a staple for me early as well.

After four months, I could eat pretty much anything except bread. Bread sat like a rock. There are other things I still haven't had, like pasta, so I don't know how they would be.

I have put a lot of energy into finding low-carb, low-cal recipes that fit my plan and are satisfying to eat. Today I had crack slaw and it was delicious, as always. I just finished off a chicken with artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes that is also nice and on plan. I make a chicken in spicy peanut sauce, and phily cheese steak sloppy joes. I've posted a few recipes on the recipe forum.

For me, its important to have good tasting meals so I can resist the pizza and lasagna, and other high-cal foods. If I can tell myself "you can't have that pizza but you can have that crack slaw." it makes it easier to stay on plan.

I actually cook more now than I did when I was eating much more.

Happy cooking!

Carol

This is how I eat..... it varies, I try and always eat one great meal a day.

Since you love to cook, it should be easy for you to "adapt".

I learned to cook about a year after my VSG and have a food blog (at bottom in my sig) It's best to learn concept over exact recipes. Learn to deconstruct and adapt.

My spiralizer is my new go-to ! It is quick and easy to do a stir fry with beef, chicken, ground turkey.... I also use broccoli slaw as the base for many dishes. I'm just over five months out, so I pick out and weigh the protein first, then add a bite or two of the veggies.

Balsamic pork tenderloin in slow cooker. I just google for the recipe every time. Makes a bunch, family likes it in a sandwiche. I freeze leftovers it into 2.5 oz portions for grab and go lunches. It is pretty moist so when you are ready for meats it might be a decent option.
