NSV - Boots!
on 10/22/15 10:52 am - NJ
Last year on Black Friday, I bought really good boots that were marked down and with a coupon, I paid less than $20 for $100 boots. They would only zip 3/4, but I could not return them for that price, so I saved them for Christmas. At Christmas, they zipped a little bit more, but not close to wearable, so I packed them away figuring I would have to give them to my daughter. I had already lost a lot of weight and figured my legs would always be too big for boots.
I came across the boots last week while looking for other shoes. I tried them on and they zipped ALL THE WAY UP! I took them to Philly with me last weekend thinking maybe I might wear them with my jeans over them to see if they became tight during the night and caused "dunlap" where the fat done lap over the top. I wore them all night and they were not tight at all and no dunlap.
I am wearing them at work today with a skirt and am very happy with this significant NSV!
I just love that!! Congratulations.

I love high boots, but like you, I could never get them loose enough in the calf to fit well (or at all). I can't wait until I can buy high boots! You're an inspiration! What a great NSV. I might just buy a pair @ this years Black Friday sales and keep them in my closet as an incentive to be able to put them on when I reach goal.
Congrats!
I bought my first pair of tall boots just yesterday - zipping them up easily over my skinny jeans was actually an emotional moment for me. I know it's such a silly thing to celebrate, compared to all the amazing NSV's I have had since surgery, but being able to wear tall boots was one of the very few clothes-related milestones I was hoping I would reach someday.
Even as a teen I was never able to wear boots except for one pair of lace-ups. Even wide calf boots didn't close past my ankles & 40-something years later I'll never forget that I was told by a nasty shoe salesman that I would never find a pair of boots to fit. JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST PAIR, they're not wide calf & they zip! Yahoo! Love my sleeve.
