Overcoming Being Cold

When I was morbidly obese, I was ALWAYS hot and often sweating. 105 pounds down, a weight I haven't been at since junior high, I am always freezing, bone chilling, aching cold. Dressing in layers is easy. For the last ten months I have been doing water aerobics and lap swimming. I am now extremely sensitive to water under 92 degrees... to the point that I had to leave the pool when the cool down began because I was just too cold. Who knew, but there are thermal water suits for swimmers ! I've just never had to think like that. I found one on Amazon, and it's been a game changer. The "jumpsuit" extends to my knees and is short sleeved. It keeps my core warm and allows me to tolerate colder water and continue my exercise schedule. I also have purchased an electric blanket for the first time in my life. The challenges I face now are such a joy, and so resolvable !!

I'm also always cold now that I'm a normal weight. I got an electric blanket last winter, just for my side of the bed. My hubby prefers the house at 60 at night, so the electric blanket is essential.

I bought a wool vest last summer that has become my staple. I wear a turtleneck with a heavy sweater over and then the vest over that. As the weather gets colder, I also have some silk long underwear both for top and bottom. It is thin and surprisingly warm. I'd recommend it.

Yes its a nice problem to have!

best wishes,

Carol

I was FREEZING after surgery, and I live in Arizona!! The good news is that it got better by about the 9 month mark as my weight redistributed itself, but I still would much rather carry around a blanket than be MO :)

I'm always cold. Except when I'm having hot flashes

I have a portable heater in my office that I ran all summer long. I asked my surgeon about it and he says that it's unlikely that I'll ever feel temperatures the same as I did when I was SMO.

Does anyone know why this happans..besides the fact of losing the fat insulation.

Sadly, I got cold easily even when I was at my highest weight, so now it's just much worse with the weight gone :( I guess at least that made it less of a shock!

Don't know the medical reasons for it, but you already have a handle on some solutions.

My solution? I'm going to Nicaragua from January through April! Brrrrrrr.
