How long were you out of work?
It depends on what kind of work you do. I'm in IT, so I sit all day, I was working from home pretty soon after surgery. If you lift or move around a lot, it might require a little more time off. I had a lifting restriction right after surgery for a couple of weeks. If I recall it was nothing over 10 pounds.
You can't ru**** let your body heal so you don't hurt yourself.

2 weeks is reccomnded and if you need to lift more than 10 lb 6 weeks , some people go back after 1 week but it is hard you will be on a liquid diet and diarrea is common , you will need to walk a few minites every hour for 1 month to prevent blood clots , you my have problems consentrationg for up to 2 weeks from the drugs , so no important decistions should be made
One week is way to aggressive, IMO. If you have to do any critical thinking - the anesthesia fog may give you a problem. I was out for a total of 8 weeks after my DS. Despite a perfect recovery, I was extremely listless (anesthesia fog) and lacking in energy the first month. After 6 weeks I started feeling like myself again.

I'm going back on Wednesday, which will make 2.5 weeks off of work. I have a desk job, but have been too exhausted since my surgery on October 5th to be able to go back yet. I'm hoping that the short week will be a good way to get back in the groove. I start soft foods tonight, so I also want to see how things work with regards to that transition without having to risk a terrible gastric event at work.
