Hi everyone, I'm over 400 pounds and am considering having this surgery. I'm wondering if this would be a good option for me. Is there anyone in here that is or should I say was over 400 pounds and had to surgery ,if so would you recommend it?

I had VSG 13 weeks ago. My starting weight was 432 and I weighed in this week at 355. My surgeon recommended this over the RNY because it is safer for those of us with a BMI over 60. It has changed my life in just 3 months already! Good luck!

I weighed 347 (BMI over 54) when I had surgery. I am 7 months out and down to 218. I would do it again every week if I had to.

I weighed 385 pounds when I started the weight loss process. I lost 225 pounds in about 15 months. I've been maintaining at 160 pounds for over a year. I went from a BMI of 60 to a BMI of 24.

Like many on this site, I struggled to lose weight for years unsuccessfully. The WLS makes it possible to succeed. It isn't automatic. Its still a big commitment, and I would gain the weight again if I am not diligent, but the surgery makes it possible.

I highly recommend the surgery.

best wishes,

Carol

Wow, you are only a few lbs away from your goal weight. Wonderful! You should be proud of yourself.

I am over 400 and getting ready to have surgery. My doc said he recommended sleeve over band or other surgeries due to the amount needed to lose.
