Is it possible to lose over 100 pounds with the VSG?
Will it make you lose 100+ pounds? No. Can you lose 100+ pounds? Absolutely.
Averages are averages - some people do better, some do not as great. I made it my personal mission to be way better than average. I'm not perfect, but I've lost about 90% of my excess weight, with the expectation that I'll be at 100% before I call it done.
As the others have already stated, absolutely! I am 3.5 months out and have already lost 35% of my excess weight, from day of surgery to now. I'm not anywhere close to finished but hope to lose the other 65% as long as I work the sleeve to it's full potential by following my surgeon's plan.

I know it is possible to lose that much and more...I am only 12 weeks post op and I am already down 66lbs...one of my sisters has lost over 170lbs and my other sister has also lost over 80 and she is only 3 weeks ahead of me!! It can be done for sure!!

Can it help you lost over 100 lbs? You bet! But you have to be diligent about following your plan.
At 20 months post-op, I've lost 93% of my excess body weight with the VSG.
I went from a high of 303 to my current weight of 163, a total loss of 140 lbs. The surgeon is thrilled. My GP is over the moon. My rheumatologist is amazed. Friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances are all stunned.
It's a crazy ride, but it CAN be done. Stick with it and you can get there too.

absolutely you can . i lost 125 and have kept it off for nearly 5 years. so did my brother and husband. the key is developing new habits in weight loss phase. follow your surgeons plan. if there isn't one, find a good one and get a good dietician to help you. make sure your sleeve is sized right. mine was a 32 and has served me well coming up on 6 years. its been great for me and will be for you too. diane

NOPE! ;) I lost about 200 in the first year ... tracking food and exercising every day.
you can definately make it all the way to your goal weight, but you have to do the work yourself in changing your habits for the long term. So take full advantage of those first 3-6 months where you cannot eat much at all and get all the junk out of your diet and set your portion size (and keep it there! adding only veggies). I'm not sure where you got your info on the 40%, the common number for VSG is 65% on average of your excess ... but it varies from 50-100% depending on the eating and exercise habits you form.
