Two Years and Counting!
So, I spaced off writing my update... Last week was my two-year surgiversary!
My appointment with my primary doc went well. Labs were mostly excellent - my blood sugar was perfect, cholesterol and triglycerides were the best ever, kidney and liver functions were great. We're tweaking my iron and B vitamins, and adding D every other day. She's happy for me, and says that she has described my success when talking to other patients about WLS.
My appointment at the surgeon's office was also great. I've been maintaining for a more than a year, and at this appointment was actually 0.6 lb below last year's visit.
I'm really thinking about plastics now, and talked to him about LBL vs. just tummy tuck, etc. While he's not a plastics guy, he knows what he's seen in other patients.
I love the way I feel now, and the freedom I have to get out and do stuff. We golf, ride bikes, dance... I have my first grandchild now, and I know I'll be able to keep with her!
Maintenance is no easy task, just like surgery is no easy way out! I have to mindful of my eating Every. Single. Day. I still use and enjoy protein coffee every morning, and eat protein forward all the time. I have added in more fruits this summer than last, with no ill effects. I drink diet soda on occasion. I love zoodles. I love grilled fish. I still miss brownies, but I feel better than eating brownies tastes.
I mostly lurk more than post, but I do value this site as part of my plan to keep up the good work. Thanks to you all for the ongoing inspiration.
XOXOXOX
Brenda
Wow. Congratulations on your success both losing and maintaining. You are an inspiration.
It is a life-long effort but we can succeed!
