Is it just me?
Everyone keeps bringing it to my attention that I always have my arms folded near my belly. So I started to pay close attention and sure enough, I do and I can't seem to help it. Is this my way of missing my "larger belly"? Or is this common? I must admit that I do feel as if I'm in this weird head space because my body is changing so quickly and people comment daily about it so maybe I'm self-conscious and not confident in my new skin yet. Any thoughts?
My NP says that it takes about 18 months for our brains to catch up with our bodies after rapid weight loss. I'm 2.5 years post op, and I still do a double-take when I see myself in a mirror. But now I do a double-take when I see pictures of me heavy, as well. I'm not sure if that's progress.
I also got a tummy tuck last April, and I am so happy I did. I lost 225 pounds and had a lot of excess skin. The Tummy tuck really boosted my self-image more than I would have expected. My tummy looks like it did when I was 14!
Did I mention? I love my sleeve!
Best of luck in your weight loss journey.

Hello. My biggest concern that I am worried about is my extra skin hanging from my stomach :(. I see you mentioned you had a tummy tuck. I was informed that as of now no insurances will cover that. May I ask how much they cost? I am so worried that i will feel worse after the weight loss with my stomach sagging :(
I am in Massachusetts, and health care is expensive here, so you may be able to do better cost wise in your area, but my fleur-de-lis tummy tuck cost $7,500. I had estimates up to $15,000 so I think I did pretty well. I just feel blessed that I could afford it.
best wishes,
Carol

Some insurances will cover a panni removal though. Mine did. I only had to chip in an extra $2,000 for the anchor cut, muscle tightening, and lipo. Worth every penny. Even without it though, the loose skin was much easier for me to deal with emotionally than the 150 pounds of fat I had been carrying around.

Thanks and I love my sleeve too! I am way to scared to get the excess skin removed and I told myself that I can live with it, it was hard enough to convince myself to get the sleeve.
I do exactly the same thing! I use to sit on the edge of my chair and lean on the table. But now I find I'm sitting back and have no idea of what to do with my hands and arms. So across the chest they go. Maybe we need to learn to fold our hands in our laps. LOL I hadn't thought about it being a reaction to the missing bulk of the stomach.
LOL, glad I'm not the only one. Yeah, I sorta feel like I'm lost a bit and don't know what to do.
The absence of space makes perfect sense to me now and explains what I think it must be for me as well.
