Poor Me!!
Hi,
I sure hope you don't get to this point. It is not fun. You are right...someday I will probably say this is all worth it, I'm certainly not there yet!
Hanging in...Thank you!

I wasn't put on a liquid diet prior to my surgery. I was on a liver shrinking diet which was high protien and low carb. So I agree don't beat yourself up about it. I appreciate your honesty and being real!! But don't be so hard on yourself. I don't want you to go against what your dice said....but I would have some grilled chicken and veggies like someone else said earlier!!
Yeah, this diet is supposed to be "low glycemic" so that my liver shrinks. I sure wish my surgeon's belief was like others and allowed for chicken and low carb veggies or SOMETHING...but it doesn't so shakes, broth, apple juice and Popsicle's it is.

I know it's a drag, but you need to stick to the plan, as your doctor wants you to. Sorry, but you can gut it out and make the most of this time to lose many pounds before the surgery.
I was on protein shakes for two weeks before and after surgery, and it was Hell, but was also freeing for me. I didn't have to make any food choices at that time, and it helped me to prepare for post the post surgery diet.
You can do it! Please don't give up now.

Thank you for that. I guess that is one thing that is nice about this...not having to worry about what I'm going to eat!

It is tough but for two weeks after the surgery is liquid also. This I got to add frozen strawberries and a tbsp of almond butter because I can't stomach 2 bottles of boost.
Yeah, my thought process about the after surgery liquid diet is a little different I guess. I'll be healing, won't want to eat, and won't be walking around feeling like my stomach is going to eat itself all day! At least...that is my hope!

Hey Suzy,
I literally was just as pissed as you two days ago. My surgery was on 9/21 & my surgeon has me on the liquid phase still for two weeks. My mom made cheesy meatballs smothered in cheese; the smell was so amazing my mouth LITERALLY watered! I started crying; wondering why the hell I did this to myself! & thanks to the people on this site & my loving family I was able to eat my stupid chicken broth & go to sleep. It is just so frustrating & you feel like you just want the ability to feel real food in your mouth not just plain liquids. You want to taste food & the textures! But I woke up the next day realizing I can defeat my urges we reached unhealthy weights in our lives & I realized I went through with this surgery because I demanded to take my life back from food! I control what I can put in my mouth! Yes, unhealthy foods taste great but the cost of not having the control to temptation is bad health! When you feel frustrated remind yourself that you did this because in a few months you will be so happy you stuck to your guns!! We got this! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I feel this frustration too!! Good Luck & we're all here for support!
My best,
Luisa
