I Really Need Some Help!
As many of you know my surgeon has left the state...when calling around to other surgeons, they say I do not need them...I am 14 months out of surgery and down 100 pounds...I know that is a lot of weight in such a short time..My questions are...How many calories should I be eating? How much should I be eating? I have never measured out anything and was never told to..I keep hitting stalls and I am positive this is why...Please help to get me on the right track! Tell me how much protein, vegetables and carbs I should be eating....Thanks to all of you!
There's a lot of variety in how people plan their weight loss diet, so I'll just give you what I did.
I ate 3 meals per day. Each meal consisted of 3 to 4 ounces of dense protein plus all the low carb veggies I could eat.
If I needed a snack, I'd have plain greek yogurt (with sweetener and flavorings) or a veggie like cucumber salad or broccoli slaw.
My program was really strict on the 3 meals a day, wanting to establish this as a life-long pattern. But I found that in maintenance, I added a fourth meal of the same type.
I make a lot of casseroles with meats and veggies and then I portion them out in servings that contain 3 to 4 ounces of protein.
A lot of people include regular snacks or more meals a day. I think you'll have to try different approaches and see what works best for you and your sleeve.
best wishes,
Carol

I just thought I'd add a typical diet day:
Breakfast - 4 ounces of salmon
Lunch - 4 ounces of Chicken in spicy peanut sauce or Chicken Florentine, or pesto chicken
Dinner - mustard crusted flank steak and steam-fresh mixed veggies
snack - broccoli slaw
best of luck,
Carol

Carol..Thank You so much..this will be a big help to me..The 27 pounds I have left for goal is a high goal...I actually have about 35-40 lbs to go but I just haven't been able to move the scale...I try and stay around 800 calories a day but that's not working out to well..Do you have a place you go to for recipes or are these recipes that you make on your own?
I found that I had to make interesting foods to help me resist the pizza, and lasagna, and other forbidden foods. If I could tell myself, "no you can't have that lasagna, but you can have that crack slaw, or that chicken in spicy peanut sauce." it really helped keep me on track. So I put a lot of energy into finding recipes. I've posted a number of my favorites on the recipe forum here. Most of them I found by searching the internet, looking for low carb and low calorie recipes. I also have a low carb cookbook that I use called "Lauries low carb cook book" I use several of her recipes as staples.
Its interesting that now that I am eating so much less, I am cooking so much more. It takes effort to eat healthy!
If there are particular recipes you'd like, email me, and I'll send them.
best wishes,
Carol

If you're still looking to lose, most people tend to stick to ~800 calories and < 30g carbs. Protein first and foremost, MAYBE a bite or two of veggies once you've gotten the protein in.
Measure your portions and put it into something like MyFitnessPal to get an accurate picture of how many calories you're taking in.

You have to track every thing you eat and drink. You have to keep the calories at 800 and the carbs under 30.
No bread, rice, cereal, sugar or potatoes. You have to get in at least 64 oz of water. You have to weigh daily. You will lose a pound a week on have the 20 pounds off in 20 weeks. Give yourself a year to reach your final goal.
