So one year anniversary of surgery last week (23rd).  Wednesday wake up to something weird in my abdomen, hungry nauseous, not sure.  Same thing the next night.  Last night, took my multivitamin and acid reflux med and it hit again.  Right behind my right ribcage.  That was at 10 pm.  By 1:00 am, my back was killing me and I went to the ER.  Turns out I have a kidney stone and gall stone determined by a CAT scan.  Next was Ultrasound, which showed the kidney stone moved through and the gall bladder needs to come out.  They wanted to do it tonight at 5:00 pm but I have a big work event tomorrow so I asked to move it to next week.  So it looks like I've become a statistic.....not sure  what happens from here.  Just thought I would share :)

I had my gallbladder out many years ago, and it was one of the easiest surgeries ever.  I had to stay one night, but now it is an outpatient procedure.  6 days after the surgery we had our Christmas celebration and I felt completely fine and normal.  I honestly don't remember having any pain meds.

Good luck and report back when you can, to let us know how you're doing.

Will do.  Just kind of annoyed this is happening.  Thanks for the information.

I read somewhere that up to 30% of bariatric patients will have their gall bladder out sooner or later. Hope your surgery goes well and that you recover quickly.

Dr gave me the same stat today.  He said the insurance plays a big factor in whether or not there can take it out as a preventative measure.

I got mine removed on the same day as surgery, they did an ultrasound on it and there was several stones in it. When he removed it he said it was very full and I would have had to get it out

I had mine out about 6 years ago. And believe it or not I was at a concert the next day :) I'm sure everyone's body is different, none the less you should be a Ok!

As long as everything goes smoothly your gallbladder surgery will be even easier to recover from than VSG surgery.  I had mine out on a Friday and was back to work on Monday.
