UP the stairs

I always take the stairs going down.  My son quotes the John Pinette's bit about gravity being a law...going up defies gravity and he obeys laws, so he doesn't do "ups".

Today after my afternoon walk, I took the 5 flights of stairs UP.  I promised myself a rest when needed.  It will make a big difference if I can turn it into a habit like the many others I have created.

Upwards and onward.

I used to avoid climbing the stairs because I got wheezy after just a few steps. But now it's so much easier! And it's good exercise too, super easy to add into your day if you spend a lot of time in a building with stairs.

Go you!!

I do just the opposite now. I take elevators down, and stairs up. Going down stairs is murder on my knees. Much worse than up. It doesn't make sense to me, but that's the way it works I guess.

I loved John Pinette. He died way too young.

He was so good! More sad because he was trying to get healthy.

I am not a doctor but I can google.  Knee pain going down stairs usually indicates a problem with the knee cap (patella) and how it moves -

Surgery Date 04-22-14 HW 2011 388(lost 60lbs on WW, regained 40) Surgery Consult Weight 1/10/14 - 367 SW 357 - CW 9/15 210.

I second the agony of going down stairs -ouch!  My poor knees aren't forgiving me for the decades of abuse when I was morbidly obese   An ortho surgeon quoted me some statistic that going down stairs puts 3.5 times your body weight on the knee.  Yikes!

Up down and around😉  At work I do the stairs in the parking garage(3 level) , 4 reps then walk it down mixing in lunges.  Great exercise and I'm able to do on my breaks.  It was elevators only before surgery.
