Vitamin Question
Hi Helpful Losers!
I am looking for a quality, complete multi vitamin for post surgery (so probably chewy or liquid) that provides all of the essentials plus 50 mc of iron. Any ideas?
Thanks!

I take a Celebrate chewable multi without iron because my labs are through the roof, but I know they offer a chewable multi with iron. Of all the chewables out there, this one is the least offensive to me. Bariatric Advantage chewables are disgusting.

I don't know if you'll find a multi with 50mg of iron. The best I've found so far is the Trader Joe's High Potency Prenatal which has 30mg.

I tried all the chewables on the market and they are bad tasting. I recently found the Women's Ultra Mega soft chews at GNC I also take the be-balanced bone strengthening calcium soft chews ( they have iron) from GNC. These are by far the best tasting I have found. They are a bit of money but they are worth it. They do not give me intestional distress like some other vitamins. I don't mind the money because I am not taking Rx meds anymore since my surgery.

If you're having trouble finding something with iron, don't forget that you can get an additional separate iron supplement.

I recently switched over to PatchMD- no swallowing, it is a patch. Labs came back the best that I ever had, and my iron was persistently low prior to the switch. There is a promo for 40% off, I think it is "patch40".

My calcium levels were well within range. I "want" to do the calcium +D due to the low D, and now being on a fairly high dose of omeprazole (spelling?), The PPI is not good for the bones long term. Not that it seems to matter as far as the patch, because over the last month I think I have managed to remember it twice. I suppose a little is better than none though!
What I did succussfully switch out to was going back to unsweetened almond milk. I drink typicall 24 ounces or so a day, spread out throughout the day. I know it is not the type of calcium that we absorb as easily- but hopefully it will be enough to keep everything humming along well.
Edited to add: There are several of us in a private group that have reported back our lab results since switching to the patch. All of us have come back in range for everything except a bit low on d. 2 of us both clocked in 1 point low on the vitamin d, but everything else was good. I can't remember though if copper is typically measured in a cbc and normal blood draw? Can't confirm in other words how the copper is unless it is part of the normal draw. I didn't count how many of us reported back after switching, but there are at least 5 of us. On another note, this is the first time my iron levels EVER came back in normal- and I used no other supplement. I also had labs drawn only 4 weeks after the switch, and forgot the patch intermittently in that month. Stellar results for me in other words given the short duration and struggle with compliance. Labs will be drawn again at my physical in January, and I will report those back when they are known.
