On my pre op liquid I lost 15lbs. Post op week 1&2 lost a total of 25lbs. So I was feeling pretty dame good that in 3 weeks I lost 40lbs (305lbs.) Today marks end of week 4, so in this past 2 weeks (week 3&4) I've lost 4lbs. Barely. What's happening? is this it? I heard of week 3 stalls but I'm starting week 5 with the  same as I had in week 3.

You've lost an amazing amount of weight in the first few weeks.  40 pounds in 4 weeks (2 pre op and 2 post op) is huge.  My best month, I lost half that much. The scale isn't the best measure of fat loss, as there are other factors affecting the scale number.  If you stick to plan, you will burn fat - no matter what the scale says.

Truthfully, 2 or 3 pounds per week is more typical of most people's weight loss.  I'd recommend trying to reset your expectations so that you aren't frustrated when, in fact, you are doing great.  2 pounds a week is over 100 pounds lost per year.  That's a lot.

best wishes,

Carol

Stalls happen whenever they want. :) I went into a 3 1/2 week stall the first month and another in month three. Stick with it, follow your rules and it will happen. My only advice is try eating some different foods, sometimes we get into a rut and don't forget to eat some fat, we need that too.

Well, you have lost weight in weeks 3 and 4 -- not as much as in previous weeks, but you have not "stalled".  You are not going to continue to lose weight at the rate you lost during your pre-op diet and the first two weeks post-op.  And when you do actually "stall" - it can last for three or four weeks.  In the meantime, you'll be losing inches.  Just continue to follow your program and the weight will continue to drop.  Be thankful for the great success you've had so far - but expect the weight loss to slow down.  You have to have realistic expectations--continue reading the boards so you'll learn more about people's experiences.

Congratulations on your successful surgery!

I lost 50lbs the first two months and now I've hit a wall for most of September and "only" lost like 3 pounds so far.  I regained five this week overnight, as well as have bloating -- the regular doctor thinks it's probably my birth control, alas.

However, 40lbs in three weeks is amazing.  I started at 401 or so and only lost like 25lbs my first four weeks...which is also pretty amazing, too!  We both need to just hang in there and keep doing things as we are supposed to:)

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Thanks for all your post and words of advice guys. Don't know how much I appreciate it. Hearing it from you guys about my own weight loss I realized how lucky and thankful I should be of what was accomplished thus far. With 40lbs lost in 3 weeks I think I got my self TOO EXCITED and put my expectations too high. It's time to check back into reality.
