Post-Op changes in food

I'm definitely preparing myself for the possibilities of things I once loved being things that I will want to spit out when I try it after surgery. That's why I asked this question to see what foods people became sensitive to after surgery. Thank you for all your input! That helps me see what foods can possibly be sensitive for me. (Maybe) & I'll have to check out Quest that's another thing I loved about this response because now I have a product I can maybe use and try after surgery! Again thank you for your reply! :)

Great question, Luisa.

Everyone is different.  For me, I can't tolerate raw ginger or raw red onions anymore.

The one thing I would advise is listen to your sleeve!  It will tell you what it likes and what it doesn't based on your body.   Eat in really small quantities and bites at a time.

Good luck on your journey and see you on the other side.  Come early and often to the site!

Thanks Scott! I appreciate your advice & I will most definitely refer to this site for advice & to update all my newfound friends on what's going on with me! You all have been amazing to me & I feel all the support & love! I couldn't be anymore  appreciative for all the help! I've been training my body by eating slowly & with small bites plus separating my meals & drinks by 30 mins! & I promise I will listen to my sleeve like if it were to be my child! :) Thanks for all your help!

Best,

Luisa

The only thing that bothers me is food that's too dry.  Otherwise, 18 months out, I've had no problems with any foods.

Oh!  I forgot falafel.  It just doesn't feel good in my stomach.  Which is so sad since I loved falafel.

That's the sucky part of the surgery is losing the taste for foods you once loved. But hey it can also be a blessing in disguise; maybe it's best to your diet & body that you keep that out because your listening to your body when it says it no longer likes that certain food!! Good luck on the rest of your journey!! :)

Oh, I haven't lost the taste for anything. I still love the things I've always loved. Falafel just doesn't feel good in my stomach. It tastes wonderful in my mouth!

Oh I see. The sleeve feels funny when you eat it. At least you haven't lost the taste for certain foods like other have that I heard about. Well some things have to be sacrificed. :)

I'm 6 weeks post op - I seem to be able to tolerate just about anything that I've tried so far except for eggs for some reason.  They just seem heavy and uncomfortable.  Also, anything salty tastes extremely salty to me.  Just follow the plan you are given, try things in tiny amounts and don't rush the process.  Best of luck to you Luisa!
