I've never met a bigger group of Losers!
Hey VSGers hope you're happy, healthy and hydrated. Today is my 6 month "Surgaversary" and I feel great!I'm not a big poster but do read this forum every week and have always found inspiration and helpful advice. My story is not unlike those successes I read about here all the time. Already down 116 pounds, no longer on anticoagulants, BP meds, statins or on the diabetes wait list. 29 lbs more and I won't even be technically obese. Thinking about changing my goal down to a normal weight of 179.9 but sticking with just getting to Onederland by Christmas. 5 years ago I was huffing and puffing, sweating and sore and had trouble getting the 3 blocks to the end of my street, now I do 20,000 steps before 7AM. There is not any part of my life that hasn't greatly improved, except maybe my wardrobe. It was hard getting rid of all those clothes.
The most surprising thing to me has been how it has been getting easier as time goes by. I had doubts that I'd ever be satisfied by a 3 ounce portion but now when I lay that chicken breast on the scale 3 ounces seems like more than enough. I've embraced good nutrition. I record everything I eat using the app Fooducate hitting my targets 99% of the time and when i cheat (had my first ice cream cone in 9 months) it's amazing to see how it blows your entire nutritional goals for that day. My best advice to anyone dieting is to write it ALL down. My petite wife has lost 24 pounds since I entered the program just by keeping within her 1500 cal a day goals.
So thank you Losers and the great team at BIDMC WLS in Boston, you made last St Patricks Day one to remember.
Congratulations on your success. Its great to see more people from Boston on this site. I'm from the Boston suburbs and had my surgery at Lahey about 2 years ago.
Best wishes,
Carol
