Please give me some feedback
hello everybody, I am 3 weeks post op as of yesterday, and I went to the nutritionist and she said my weight loss seems slow to her. I have lost 18 pounds in the 3 weeks. Does that seem slow, I thought it was pretty good. She said I was not getting enough protein or fluids, so I am trying to get it up where it belongs. I am just concerned about whether or not the weight loss seems slow to some of you? Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
Whoah! I'm really surprised she said that. Does she work with bariatric patients? That is not slow AT ALL.
Going by your ticker, I had a higher starting weight than you and lost 22 lbs...in the entire first month post op. Plus, some people's losses are not as fast as others. Many stall around 3 weeks, etc. My medical team (in my one week post-op appointment) told me that I should be aiming for a 10 lb. loss a month so I'm well in that range. I would seek a second opinion from your VSG doctor.
How much protein and water are you getting?

That doesn't seem slow to me either. You've lost more than a pound per day...that's great! I lost 20 lbs the first month and my surgeon and nutritionist were quite pleased.

I don't think 18 lbs is bad at all. In my first month I lost 22 pounds. It was highest month by far. You're doing great!

My doctor was so happy when I lost 17 pound at my 4 week check up. How can 18 pounds at 3 weeks not be enough?
5' 5" tall. VSG on August 4, 2015/ Starting weight 239.9/ Surgery weight 210.9/ Current weight 137.4/ Goal weight 140/ No longer overweight, now a NORMAL weight. Now that I'm at goal, it's time to move on to maintenance!!!!!!!!
I've lost 70 pounds since June 1st, and 50 since surgery on June 22nd. It seems like your weight loss is pretty good. Mine slowed down this past week or two, but apparently it's because I've not been drinking as much as I should.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

18 pounds in 3 weeks is EXCELLENT. I wonder if she misread the numbers or misunderstood the timing, because I can't imagine anyone thinking a loss of 6 pounds per week was low.
Please don't be discouraged by her comments. I lost 225 pounds by 15 months post-op and I never lost as fast as you are now!
Keep up the good work.
