Yup, major weight loss will screw with your periods big time! Estrogen is stored in fat cells, so in the first month or two many folks experience a "hormone dump" as we lose fat and get flooded with estrogen.
I had an IUD and hadn't had a period in years, but got to experience "shark week" about a month and a half after surgery. Things did eventually settle back down to normal, though.

Yes, I was advised to go off the pill about 1 week prior to surgery, as I continuously take the pill without a break. Since surgery 3 weeks ago I've had it twice and one of those times I was only a few hours late taking the pill. I forgot to have the RX refilled while in the hospital so there was a short gap.
Speaking about women’s issues…I am also curious about PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) for which I was taking Metformin. My I have my 1 month next week and will be sure to discuss, but I am wondering if that is something that goes away with weight loss or once you have PCOS you always have it, if anyone has experience with the matter.
Thanks.
