I miss food...
I am 10 days post-op and have lost 12.5 pounds, which is awesome! But I miss food. I'm not hungry, not at all, and I'm getting the fluids and shakes in. But it makes me crazy to know I've got 8 more days til my appt with the nutritionist where I get my diet advanced. Again, I'm not hungry, I just hate the lack of variety. Feel dont want a pizza or anything, I'd kill for one bite of scrambled eggs. I'm mad at myself for thinking this way but am trying to keep in mind it's temporary.
it is normal and it is called head hunger. just stick to the plan and things will get better. it is a tuff in the first 4 weeks but it will get better. i am 40 days post op. i stoped having these ideas of food food food i want to eat..... try to go out meet friends. this will help to forget the food idea. hope u get well soon

"Temporary" can feel like a long, long time. Even when you start eating normal foods again, you'll miss being unable to finish eating your meal, however small the portion. Your sleeve will tell you, "no more," but that delicious food on the plate will tell you, "try anyway." Of course, the sleeve must prevail because eating even a bite or two too much will send you racing to the bathroom to hurl.
Don't be mad at yourself; be kind to yourself. It's normal to feel longings for food you can't have yet.

This is so normal. I remember smelling popcorn and chicken wings and wanting to cry because I missed them so much. As the weight starts to drop and you see what you're fighting for, it gets so much easier. Hang in there!

I remember missing food in those early weeks. I also went thru a period where the thought of food made me queasy and I'd have to force myself to eat. But it all settles out over time. I found the period post surgery most difficult - that process of getting used to the new tummy was not fun. But I did get to a "new normal" place where my tummy and I are at peace. I still wish I could eat more, and I still bemoan that I cannot have a muffin or a chocolate croissant, or a chocolate chip cookie. But most days, I choose health over treats. Its not easy, but its doable.
On the bright side, I'm 220 pounds lighter, I have a normal BMI, I'm wearing a size 14 rather than a tight 5x, and I have the energy to do so much more. It is so worth it.
Hang in there. You'll be so glad you did.

Quit being mad at yourself for something that's perfectly normal. Most people go through a period where they actually "mourn" food - the amounts they could eat, the different types they could eat. It's natural to feel sad/angry/upset when a really powerful coping skill (although dysfunctional) is ripped away from you.
You might not even be at that point yet, just at the point of boredom. But the sadness will come, I promise. Don't try to pu**** down, let yourself feel it and grieve it and get it out.
All the best to you on this new journey!
