Just a good reminder
Maybe the fact that two reporters were shot in cold blood this morning by a disgruntled former employee has me a little sensitive today. You just never know how your interactions with others might affect them. It's all in the delivery. If it's not kind or helpful why even respond?
I wouldn't consider getting on a soapbox and making an unnecessary appeal to irrelevent outside events to be helpful. But that's just me.

I will gladly admit to a bit of snark, perhaps, but not deliberate rudeness. But if you check the content of my initial reply, I was pointing out how some of your points might be considered within the context of the regular discussion that takes place on this board.
