Plant based protein powder?

I finally told my surgeon to put in for removal of the band and revise to VSG last week.  Waiting for insurance now.

Question for you.  Anyone here use plant based protein powder?  I have found that whey has been upsetting my stomach lately.  It was suggested by my health coach to get plant based and she doesn't want me having any dairy (says it causes inflammation in the body).

I tried a couple samples, Plant Fusion and Phood.  Phood had less of the earthy taste, but I'm not sure I'm ready to invest in a large amount.  I feel it's going to take time to get used to the different taste.  I know if I have surgery I need to drink the shakes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

My bff is vegan and she really likes the Vega brand of protein shakes.  I believe that Jay Robb makes an egg protein that many people like as well.

Thanks!  I should have mentioned too that eggs make me sick so I haven't been able to do the Jay Robb shakes either.  There is something about an egg that upsets my system terribly ever since I became pregnant with my son....20 years ago!!

That's a drag :(  I'm sorry!  I'd check out the Vega shakes then :)

I am allergic to dairy and soy... I tried a lot of vegan proteins. Some are better than others.

A few that I liked are:

Vega brand - Vega one, Vega Sport, etc.

Orgain - I think Costco sell them also

I do use Plant fusion...

There are also egg white proteins...

Some people like soy based proteins... But even if I were not allergic - I would not use that... Too much controversy surrounding soy..

Thank you!  I was looking at Orgain on the internet yesterday.  I will see if I can get some samples.  I stay away from soy also.  I have an underactive thyroid and I understand I should stay away from soy based products too.

I used pea protein powder briefly.  Not bad tasting.  I found it on Vitacost.  My NUT approved it due to protein count.

I use sunwarrior unflavoured to add to food for a boost. I haven't been able to tolerate Vega brand because of the strong stevia flavour.

I ordered 3 packets of Vega yesterday.  I will keep trying until I find one that doesn't taste like dirt.  I made a Phood Vanilla yesterday.  It was awful.  It had quite a bad aftertaste.
