Whatcha eating today VSGers? -- Tuesday
Not quite sure what's going on today as it depends on my dad. That'll be a theme for the week.
1: frankenshake
1.1: some nuts at chemo
2: protein shake or lunch meat
3: crab cakes, salad
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: 30 minute yoga, maybe a fitness class if my dad feels up to going to the gym or I decide to go by myself
How about you?

As with yesterday, 4-5 small meals a day; moving on to soft foods, although today seems to be mostly the 'puree' category.
M1: Premier Protein shake
M2: Applesauce
M3: Egg salad
M4: Applesauce
M5: Egg salad
Liquid: Once again, it's hard to balance 5 meals with liquids due to the restrictions on drinking before/after meals. Any advice would be welcome.
Vitamins: Gummy vites; since I'm starting on soft foods today, I'm going to get back on track.
Exercise: Still too soon.

My advice is that applesauce isn't a good choice. Yes, the texture is right, but it's pure sugar/carbs. Better to have a protein meal. Also, you can be walking as much as possible right now, and should be!
There is no problem with drinking prior to meals, only with drinking 30 minutes after eating. That should make it easier to get your fluids in :)

Your nutritionist is giving you advice based on RNY restrictions, which is fairly common. But it's also not applicable to us.

Really? I believe you, but I worry that blindly following the advice of someone on the internet may harm me. Do you have a link to something that can back up your claim?
I hope you don't think I'm being rude...I just want to make sure that I don't hurt myself.

I can't link, since I'm on my phone, but you should be able to search for "pyloric 101". Or maybe "pyloric valve 101."
The short version is that we have a fully functional stomach with pyloric valve, and liquids go right through it until it's closed from dense protein. So we can drink right up until we eat. With RNY, there is no pyloric valve anyone, hence their different restrictions. But a lot of nutritionists just lump us together and don't bother to educate themselves :(
