25lbs to go........

I only have 25lbs to go but boy it getting more difficult and the weight is not coming off near as easy. I have been working with a personal trainer for a couple of weeks now. Next week I start going to her twice a week and I am doing her boot camp too. I work entirely too much and boy has it interfered with my progress. I am a nurse and work in the ER. To say the least, I stay extremely busy and don't eat as frequently as I should. I am so desperate to lose the remaining 25 lbs so I am going to cut down on the working and kick up the workouts. I will be 5 months post op next week. I am very pleased with my progress. I feel like I got a bonus because not only has my physical health improved drastically so has my emotional health. I feel like a brand new woman. Watch out world cause I am rolling full steam ahead. Love my life, love my sleeve. I can honestly say I am finally happy with me. Amazing how everything else falls in place when you start loving yourself and stop making excuses.

I think you are doing great to be within 25 pounds of goal in just 5 months.  The weight loss does slow down as we approach goal.  So try to focus on how far you've come rather than how far you have to go.  I found the last few months I was only losing 3 or 4 pounds a month, but I was so much healthier already that it didn't matter so much.

Someone on this board once said that its a marathon, not a sprint.  Its about the long-term, not how fast we get to goal.  If it takes 6 month or 12 months to reach goal, does it really matter in the long run.

Try to enjoy the process.  You are doing so well.

best wishes,

Carol

I understand completely. I have about 30 pounds to get to my goal and it has slowed down a lot. Slower at this point isn't necessarily a bad thing as your body is still adjusting to the big changes that have happened over the last 5 months.

I too feel like a new woman. My outlook has changed for the positive and I feel empowered to tackle whatever I need or want to. :)

My nutritionist that works with my surgeon has said that switching up the percentages of fats to carbs helps to trick you body sometimes. Can't hurt to give it a shot. It worked for me to keep me headed in the right direction especially around plateaus. (I'm 1 year out)

Good luck, you got this!

I think the biggest issue at this point is that you are looking and feeling good and take that one taste of something that won't make that much of a difference... we start easing up on ourselves.... I say Push through and push hard...once you hit goal you can dabble and test the waters and it is AMAZING to wake up and not feel like you HAVE to lose weight.  Good luck, you can do it.
