I bought all sorts of bike goodies! Lights, tools, bags, jerseys, pedals, ID bracelets... Even a fancy new aero helmet as I prepared for the big city race.

You found an expensive hobby there, Julie. :) I have a friend who does road biking and it's a wallet killer! But she, like you, loves it so much.  Isn't it great to love these things that are also good for our bodies?

I've actually had really good luck finding things on sale, otherwise it could get REALLY expensive! We have a store that sells used sporting goods as well, so I've gotten some of the fancier stuff, like bags and jerseys, for cheap. Plus I got my road bike online, it's not a name brand but it works just fine and I saved like $500 :)

Awesome!  I'm all about used stuff - I'm a big eBay surfer. It saves money to then be spent on those running socks and flower bouquets I love. :)

I reward myself in some "me time." I try to schedule a couple of hours where I am not doing anything but relaxing.

I celebrate milestones by buying myself something I want/need - next smaller size excercise clothes, shoes, etc. My goal prize will be knee high boots and a custom made belt.

I did massages every 50 pounds.

But for the most part...I buy what I want when I want....life is too short!

I've been thinking about this all day.  I really just reward myself for existing.  So not when I reach certain goals.  I get massages every month, I get pedicures when I have the time/desire, I read when I have time, I go to fitness classes which I love and make me feel great.

I do have a Pandora-type bracelet that I wear all the time and I add a bead every 20 pounds.  That makes me feel good :)

I hadn't even thought about rewards for myself.  You are so right though, pre-op I would console myself with food, so why am I not rewarding my self for such an awesome conquest!!!  I love the idea of a charm bracelet and adding a charm for every 20 pounds, I believe I will start that this month!!!  I am not in to running or biking, yet.... I'm still carrying quite a bit of weight and my ortho-surgeon is not quite sure I will get to the point of running a marathon because of my knees.  I do, however, have a goal to walk in a Walk/Run for Autism with my little great niece next summer!!!  She is 5 and just started walking, she walked in the event this year before she could even walk on her own.  She was so precious walking hand in hand with her mom and dad.  Here I was sitting in a chair.... So I figured my ultimate goal for this weight loss journey is to walk with her next year and help raise money for her school!!!

Also, I purchased a trip to the Bahama's last Christmas for my family.  My kids voted not to go until after I had surgery and could enjoy it as much as the rest of the family, so this Christmas my goal is to be able to climb to the top of the lighthouse on Grand Bahama Island!!!  Wish me luck!  I'm currently 7 weeks out and 46 pounds down from pre-op.  HW: 430+ SW: 421 CW: 384 GW: 185
