what are your rewards?
While on my morning run (3 miles before 6am!), I was thinking about how much my celebrations & rewards have changed. I was thinking about it because I was wearing new running socks I'd bought the day before, a reward for completing a long distance without any walk breaks. :)
I used to reward (or console) myself with food. Bad day? You deserve a cheeseburger! Do really well on that project at work? Pizza for dinner! I've been working really hard to find new ways to reward myself, and have come up with some good ones.
- the aforementioned running socks (I usually buy these after I complete a race)
- bouquet of flowers
- bath stuff (I'm partial to Lush bath bombs)
- fancy makeup/nail polish/etc.
How do you reward yourself, without resorting to food?
My primary rewards are books: either buying a book I've been wanting to read or letting myself get on the hold list for a book I want to check out from the library.
I also do exercise-related stuff -- my next significant weight drop means I get to buy myself new running shoes! I also will buy things like a new heavier pair of dumbbells, a running vest, etc.
I was always a XXL guy. Last year I dropped a bunch of weight in the fall and bought an LL Bean winter jacket, XL. If would barely zip over my stomach. The rest of the winter i was swimming in it. It isn't even an option this year. My suggestion is to get layers which will be cheaper. Don't waste money like I did.
At 25 pounds lost, I bought myself the Flex Fitbit. I already had been wearing the Force for a couple of years, but wanted to get a Flex too so I could wear different colored bands to match my outfits, and I heard that one could now wear the two different Fitbits at different times in a day and they would both Sync at and combine totals. Then at 50 pounds lost, I bought a bunch of different colored bands for my Flex. At 75 pounds I bought myself the Tory Burch Goldtone Bracelet for my Flex (Pricey, but I love absolutely love it!). I love it so much, that when I hit 100 pounds I will buy myself the Silvertone one. At GOAL, I plan to buy myself an Amethyst Pendant and matching Earrings. I like Dan's idea and when I am at Goal, I think I will buy build myself a whole new wardrobe by buying a piece of clothing for each entire week I meet my weekly exercise goal (For me, sticking to my Exercise Plan is more challenging than staying on my Eating Plan). While losing weight I have been shopping in my closet. I can wear a "new" outfit for a couple of weeks and then it is too big and it goes to the Donation Bag. My Closet will be empty when I reach my Goal! Woo Hoo! :-) Kay

Yes, I really do love it! I was always wearing my Force with my dressy gold watch and other jewelry...and it looked so unclassy. Then when I got the Flex it looked a bit better, but I started yearning for the TB Bracelet, so I decided to make it my 75 pound reward. :-)
