its been 13 hours post op and I am still doing ok. Not a lot of pain but the nurses stop in every 2 hours with meds. I'm A little nauseous but again meds to help with that. 2 weird things though. I cannot empty my bladder. I can go about half the amount I need to after concentrating on it forever... Is this normal!? Also my blood sugar is 165. I've always been normal. Why is it so high? i can't have anything by mouth so I'm not sure.

If you've had a catheter sometimes it takes a little while for your body to feel normal 'going' again

It's fairly common after general anesthesia to have trouble urinating. I had a foley catheter with my VSG for two days, so I don't know if I had a problem then, but it's why they kept me an extra day after my gallbladder removal. It just takes a while for everything to come back online. They will catheterize you if they need to... which is unpleasant so keep trying to pee. Walk as much as you can, too!

The anesthesia sends everything to sleep, including your bladder and intestines.  It takes some longer to wake up again than others.
