Bod Pod Body Composition

Your fitness person is basing the 160 lb goal on your fat free mass of 136.07, plus 22-30% body fat. But losing 125 lbs to get to 160 will not all be fat. No one, ever, loses 100% fat -- you will absolutely lose lean body mass along with fat. You will lose muscle, a little bone, and even your internal organs will get smaller. Nothing will need to be as large at 160 as it is at 284.

You can minimize the amount of lean body mass lost by lifting heavy weights while losing weight. When you hit 160, that 136 lbs of lean body mass might be down to 110, or even less. So you can go below 160, it will just take more effort to get there.

Thank you all for your responses.  I doubt I'll do the BodPod again until 6months after surgery.  I am scheduled for the 28th of Sept right now.  I bought a scale that includes weight, body fa****er, bone and muscle mass to get more information about what my body is doing along the way.

Just keep in mind that all of those measurements tend to be way off on home scales.

Exactly! This is why you want to do a good body fat analysis as you approach goal - to get a real read on where you stand.

At least it was helpful to me.
