I had my surgery on July 28 and lost about 10 pounds the first week. But since have only lost a total of 2 pounds. Go see Dr. tomorrow. Is this normal?

It is normal to have stalls throughout the entire process, but the most infamous is the 3 week stall.  As long as you're sticking to your plan, you'll be okay.

I think it tends to happen because our bodies are like "OH MY GOD WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!!!" and then they sort of go into this shocked adjustment thing and stop losing weight to rebel against us.

Or something like that ;)

I agree with Gwen, that is exactly what happens.

I had a stall that lasted ten days on week three, good thing I was warned by my doctor, i know i would have panicked.

Thank you! You guys are making feel so much better and less stressed. I have been so stressed out worrying about this.

The 3 week stall definitely makes sense to me.  Your calories have decreased so drastically that the body goes into starvation mode and holds on to very ounce of fat it can.  I only wish we could let our body know that it didn't have to do that!

Starvation mode has been debunked by good science. It does not exist as you are thinking of it. Starvation mode is something that a lot of trainers and doctors who have not kept up on the most recent nutritional data tend to cite for a temporary stall in weight loss.

Most people who are experiencing that first stall post WLS are in a glycogen replacement phase and retaining water as the body replenishes its glycogen stores after that initial burst of weight loss.

Starvation mode is a myth that has been thoroughly debunked by science.  Don't buy into it!

I am in the same boat. My surgery was July 27th, and it seems my scale has been stuck at the same number all week. Was glad to see you asking what I was already wondering, since I'm a newbie. lol !  Hopefully the scale moves for both of us soon!
