Left obesity in New England (seems rude, sorry about that!)

2 weeks ago, I started a 2 week vacation on the eastcoast as an obese person.  This morning I am back home and weighed in solidly as an overweight person.  So excited!

Trip NSV's:

  • Did ok eating during the trip despite massive head hunger because travel has always been an excuse to eat and drink poorly and as often as possible.
  • I LOVE being heat tolerant!  I was totally comfortable sightseeing in the heat.
  • Physically, my body was able to handle all the walking, standing and hiking required by the trip.
  • I NEVER had to sit out any activity (or in a different seat) because of my size.

I am so motivated for the final push to a healthy BMI.  Thinking that it is possible to get to a healthy BMI is a victory of its own and this mindset is so different from a year ago as I struggled with the 6 month pre-op plan.  The sleeve has been such a great tool!

Thank you so much for listening to my navel gazing.  In real life, I only talk about weight loss with my health care team and I don't see them all that often.

I so appreciate the postings of other's wisdom, it truly helps keep me focused as I move thru the process.  Hopefully, someday I can pay back.

Enjoy your sleeve today!

I am still pre-op so some of my favorite posts are about NSV's.

I have lost a good amount of weight so far and have experienced quite a few NSV's of my own, but it is still an eye-opener how much I gave up or sacrificed to food when obese...the humidity killing me, inability to walk for any length of time and sitting out loads of activities like you mention above.

Kinda like you never knew what you had until it's gone...to obesity!

Keep up the good work!

Kathy

Yes, the humidity!  In the past it killed me.....this time I was "bring it on!" with a stupid grin on my face.

Way to go!  I've got FOUR more pounds until I leave obesity behind and I can't wait.  :D

I love your 4th NSV.  I remember, as a kid, I didn't go on a tour at Mesa Verde with my family since I was worried I'd get stuck in a place you had to crawl through.  I look back on this memory and it makes me want to cry.  Even at age 12 I missed out on things because I was too fat.  I never want to miss out on something because of my weight again.  NEVER.

Oh, so sad for 12 year old Gwen.  But happy that you are doing great now.  Today you could lead that tour!

Congratulations!  I am 18.1 pounds from "overweight" and I can't wait.  I haven't been overweight for more than 25 years, and it seemed like a dream.  Now I know it is going to happen, and it will not longer be a dream, but reality.

Congrats on being overweight LOL,  ain't it great to not be a prisoner of weight.  You are in the home stretch and will get there.   and believe me, life is good without the extra weight, as you already know.   diane

From one Swamp Yankee to another: Congrats!

(Swamp Yankee is what New England natives call those who live in or visit New England but were not born there)

Wow, I had never heard of Swamp Yankee, who knew?

Sadly, we did not get to Connecticut.  We will have to go back, really soon :)

Thank you!
