I'm having my first consultation this December...

I know it's a while away but I am so excited to finally be able to kick this thing off! I'm also so glad I stumbled on to this website a few months ago! Everyone is so kind, helpful, and supportive. I am currently changing my eating habits and exercise habits in hopes of losing at least 25 pounds before the consultation. I'm hoping to be able to get surgery as soon as possible!
I'm wondering how long after your first consultation with a doctor does it take to get the green light for surgery? If I recall correctly they require you do go on a liquid diet before hand right?
All surgeons and insurance plans are different. Mine is not the norm, but it was 2 months from my first consultation with the surgeon "I want surgery" to my surgery date. I was not required to do a pre-op diet (also not the norm). You'll find varying answers on this. Good luck!

I had my surgery 3 months after meeting with my surgeon for the first time. My insurance company didn't have a 6-month diet requirement as many do. I just needed a psych eval to appease them.
My liquid diet pre-op was 10 days.
