Question for those of you who have dated post sleeve

I was wondering for those of you who have dated post sleeve how open you were regarding your surgery? Its going on 10 months for me now and I'm very conscious everyday of my meals and what I put in my mouth, but other than that I don't give it a second thought. Is this something your were comfortable sharing with someone new you you began dating?

I was pretty open with friends and family regarding my surgery. Anyway. I'm not quite sure how I feel about sharing that information with someone I'm dating. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

Hi,

My surgeon, the team at the clinic and my cardiologist are the only ones that know I had VSG earlier this year, (and of course those on here but in anonymity)

No-body else's business.

However I see your predicament if the relationship develops does this mean you keep secrets? if you find the right person then I think you will know :-)

I tell everyone, but I did not put anything about it in my new dating profile.  I figure that if I like somebody and go out with him, I will either tell him if the opportunity arises.  If it gets to the point that I tell him my last name, he can find out himself from my Facebook page.

This is the least of my concerns re-entering the dating world.  How are you approaching it?  I became very overwhelmed and had to re-set my profile to private.  If I contact someone, they can see my profile, but I am not part of the matches sent to others.  I consider myself a fat woman in remission, so many of the men who are looking for a slim, fit, athletic, average women are automatically eliminated even though I can technically pass nowadays.  I am moving very slowly.  Any tips for the search?

I guess you have a point! I'm not on facebook, but I'm on Instargram and I have documented my weight loss.

I was in the process of deciding what website to chose for dating and I happened to meet two gentleman....one at a baseball game and another one at a 5K. I went out on dates with both, but I have never been a serial dater. Now I have just been dating the one. I believe in being honest and its not like the subject has ever came up. I guess I'm figuring out how  to approach it.

Do you like the online sites? Is there any that you would suggest (in case if things don't work out for me)?

Its hard out there, but I can see where you're coming from my eliminating those with certain criteria of what they want in women!

I'm using plenty of fish dot com because it's free. I met ex-cons, stalkers and plenty of crazy people.  The ex-con was a violent offender who didn't think he needed to share his recent incarcerations with me since I didn't ask and it was none of my business. This guy looked normal and seemed pretty normal but something was off.  I checked him out with online searches and found warnings about him.  Others probably would have figured it out quicker but I figured it out before giving him anything more personal than my phone number which I considered changing.

I've met weirdos through friends too so I don't blame online dating.  I'm a magnet.

This post isn't about WLS specifically, it's about mental health, but it's really about when to disclose things in relationships, so it might be helpful for you to read!
