Hypoglycemia and hunger

Hello.  I'm strongly consdering the gastric sleeve and about 60 pounds overweight.  I'm 29, athletic, and have hypoglycemia.  I have heard that some people can develop hypoglycemia after bariatic surgery.  Does anyone have this issue?  Did symptoms get worse after surgery?  Is anyone still experiencing unsatisfiable hunger after sleeving (I understand most people do not experience so much hunger, grehlin and all)?  My concern is that my hypoglycemia could get worse and that I could go hungry with no way to satiate myself.

I'd love to hear about it if there are experiences with lingering hunger and anything about hypoglycemics.  Thanks so much.

Why do you have hypoglycemia? What is causing that?

It can be number of things like too much insulin you body makes (high fasting insulin levels - I.e in insulinoma, hormonal imbalances, or liver issues, or....

I am asking, because when I started having hypoglycemia I was able to find a doc - endocrinologist- who ran some tests and diagnosed me with secondary adrenal insufficiency. My body did not made enough cortisol. It made enough for me not to die... But not enough to make me feel good.

So... Now I am on daily steroids to help my system... I just supplement what my body does not make. At least I try to do that.

Not only that fixed my hypoglycemia, but also helped with my energy, low blood pressure and overall issues with body pains - inflamation.

IMO - finding out why you have the Hypoglycemia - may help you later with any health issues, surgeries, etc...

Thanks for the information.  I don't know why I have it.  I didn't even realize that there were treatment options beyond diet til last week.  It'll be a few months before I can see a specialist though.

I have hypoglycemia that got much worse about 1 year post op. It's easily treated by not eating simple carbs. Like candy, chips, anything bad which is what I shouldn't be eating anyway.   The surgery was still the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Oh and while sometimes I get hungry, the appetite I had prep has never come back

hope that helps, kathy
