Lightheaded in mornings
I had my VSG on 8/3/15. For the six months leading up to my surgery, I gained so much strength and insight from all of you. Thank you!
I'm finding that I'm lightheaded in the mornings, even after a protein shake. I make sure to sip water when I get up at night. I'm getting in 600-800 calories, 40-50G of carbs, 60-80G protein and 48 oz fluids daily ( this is the low end of the fluids my Nut recommends at this stage). Anyone else experience this?
Protein shakes first thing in the morning actually drop my blood sugar (I am hypoglycemic). Try a greek yogurt instead and see if that does it. If it does, it is a blood sugar thing. If it is blood pressure being low when you first wake up sit up on the edge of your bed for a few minutes before getting out of bed, increase fluids, use Powerade Zero to help with electrolyte balance, and monitor your salt intake. (Mine went low post op due to doing all freshly prepared and not using salt when cooking.) If you are on meds for blood sugar, hypertension, etc. it is possible they may need to be adjusted. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I'm pushing the fluids, and I'll try Greek yogurt in the mornings.😊

You still may be dehydrated first thing in the morning, which can make you a little light headed and can also cause nausea.. 48 ounces is NOT enough fluids. 64 ounces the the MINIMUM. I would work extra hard to up your fluid intake. Many of us have to drink upwards of 120 ounces to feel good.
It was dizzy all the time during my first 6 months. Your body is in SHOCK! Less calories, less carbs and I'm sure it's still hard to get your required in. Your new tummy is pissed right now! Listen to what you body tells you, go slow, take it easy. It'll get better with easy passing day. I promise.
aloha,
