It's HAPPENING! I go under the knife in ONE WEEK!!! (Aug 24) My mom is even coming up from 2000 miles away to help out during my first week of recovery. She wants to make things for me to eat while she's here, but I know I can't eat... anything... so I'm looking for good recipe resources for the first 2 weeks post VSG. You know, recipes for tasty thin liquid "foods".

Does anyone have any go-tos?

My first two weeks post-op I spent drinking protein shakes, drinking strained french onion soup from Panera, and eating sugar free popsicles.  I'm not sure that any recipes would have made me happy!

Panera onion soup broth! That was one of my standbys too when my husband wanted to go out to lunch. Ah, that broth really tasted good.

Aren't moms wonderful! Check out sites such as Pinterest (search Bariatric eating), the World According to Eggface & Bariatric Eating. For me, the best thing was homemade chicken soup with a scoop of unflavored protein powder. There's a reason they call it "Jewish Penicillin!" Good luck with your surgery & enjoy the time with your mom.

The first week I lived on protein shakes, sugar free Popscicles, jello and pudding and egg drop soup (strained). I haven't had egg drop soup since my surgery and I really like it! I over did it, but it got me thru.

I don't have any suggestions for you, but I wanted to wish you good luck. I'm scheduled for the 24th as well. Send me a message if you want to compare notes.
