Pre-op Vitamins?
Hello, I am about 2 months away from my surgery but would like to start taking Biotin to hopefully, possibly help to ward off some hair loss. My hair is already REALLY thin and I am worried about losing more. I'd also like to start taking a multivitamin to get into the habit.
Should I start taking liquid or crushed pills so that I am not changing anything once I have surgery or should I not worry about that?
Thanks!

Biotin will not prevent hair loss. It can help as it grows back, but the hair loss-- called telogen effluvium-- is more or less unavoidable.
Most people end up on chewable vitamins for at least the first few months post-op. No harm in switching to them now if you like, but it's fine to take a standard pill. You should be able to swallow normal pills (cut them up if they're huge) a bit after surgery, so no need to get something special if you'd rather stick to standard vitamins.

Taking biotin will give you some really nice chin whiskers, and great leg hair. But it won't help the hair on your head.

Biotin won't help with hair loss.
As for vitamins, the ASMBS recommends that we take a chewable for the first 3-6 months, so it might be worthwhile to find a high quality chewable that you like during this time.

I started using chewable supplements when I began my 3 month supervised diet, so that I had time to find ones that worked for me. I'm glad I did, because the huge bag of samples that I got from my NUT took me like three weeks to get through, and I only liked one brand of calcium and couldn't tolerate any of the multis or iron supplements.
