Am I eating enough?
Hello! I had my VSG surgery on 7/30/15. I am still not feeling full or hungry. I eat 3 times a day...I'm on full liquids. I find that I typically stop eating after 5-6 teaspoons of soup or 1/4 of a protein shake. I usually will drink 32 ounces of water a day...maybe a little under. I stop eating when I start to get the hiccups. Should I be eating more or is this okay? THANK YOU!!

Your sleeve is very swollen, and you won't be able to eat much in one sitting, especially at first. You'll be able to handle a bit more as your body heals.
You DO need to get more water, though; 64oz or more per day is best. Keep a bottle with you at all times and sip all day, and don't be afraid to try different drinks (tea, Crystal Light, Mio, etc.) if it helps you drink it all!

Try some sugar free Popsicles. They count as fluids and should be easy to go down.

Water, water, water, and then, when you're really sick of it ..... more water. Dehydration is a real and dangerous risk at this point in your post-op recovery. I didn't drink nearly enough water post-op, and nearly died because of it -- so not kidding.
Don't worry about whether you're eating enough. Right now you can't eat much; that will resolve itself as you heal. The question must be, "Am I drinking enough?"
