Assistance Post Op? How much is TOO MUCH?
I always get asked to reach the stuff on top shelves in stores. But stuff down low, I just learn to do without. If it hits the floor, it's gone.

I went home from the hospital on post-op Day Two. The next day was Memorial Day so hubby was home but on post-op Day 4 I was completely on my own....and driving! I didn't do anything stupid like violate lifting instructions but I didn't need any pain meds and didn't need anyone hovering over me either.
I'd have her on stand-by but don't have her waste her PTO unless it's absolutely necessary. Hopefully you won't have any complications but if you do, you'll want the help then.
I didn't need someone with me 24 hours a day at all post-op. I was pretty able to get around by myself and take care of things, if very slowly..

Upon arriving home from the hospital after a 2-day stay (during which I walked a lot and drank as much water as I could), I was able to take care of myself, although it was very nice to be pampered by my husband for a few days. I think having someone there for one day just to make sure you're okay will do wonders for your peace of mind. Even 12 hours will probably be enough.
