This worries me a little. 5 months out. Normal?

I second what Emelar said and would add that all your carbs should come from fresh vegetables and fruit. Keep dairy to the barest minimum if you can't cut it out completely. Good veg and fruit carbs should not affect your overall weight loss.
I also gain or maintain when I get too close to 1000 calories/day. I'm fully committed to keep eating this way (around 700-800 calories) for the rest of my life if that's what it takes to keep the weight off. I'm 6 1/2 months post-op and am still enjoying, as you are too, the hunger reduction that comes with the surgery, but that hormone deficit will normalize at sometime around one year post-op. By that time, it's to be hoped that we are eating healthy, low-calorie, high-protein meals and engaging in regular exercise. Good health habits plus the continued sleeve restriction are what will help keep us on track. At least that's the theory. I have a feeling it will be tougher to maintain a healthy weight than to take it off. But I'm ready! Bring it on! This surgery was(is) my last desperate shot at getting healthy. I'm determined not to let the fat win.

50g of carbs over what you normally eat results in a temporary glycogen(20%) and water storage (80%) of about 250g or half a pound ... in your liver and muscles. it's not really weight gain unless you do it for many days in a row without doing exercise to burn it off.
Great info. Thank you! :-)
