anyone take regular vitamins not chewables?

I'm in month #1 of my 3 months of supervised weight loss classes.  My dietitian said no gummies, I'm suppose to take a daily multivitamin...Centrum was recommended.  There are so many different types of Centrum, I don't know which to buy.  Since I'm 50+ (65yo) do I take the Centurm Silver, or the Centrum for 50+, or something else?

Very sorry for hijacking this thread.

Go with the Centrum Chewables. They're not the best tasting (that would be Meijer Brand chewable calcium+vit D) but they work.

Gummy multivitamins usually do not contain iron, which is why it is discouraged in my program. I would ask your team specifically which vitamin they recommend now. It was only required for mine to include iron, and I take two a day. Pre-op I took a one-a-day...but I was also 28- years -old.

I take Centrum Silver - it does not have iron so I can take calcium at the same time and then I just take my iron before bed.

Whoa!  Iron cannot be taken at the same time as calcium?!  We weren't told this so it's good information to know when considering which multivitamin to get.

I just do chewables, but I am thinking of doing some investigating on better tasting chewables.. Centrum multi-vitamins (orange ones) taste just horrid.

I'll have to check online for some easy to consume Iron supplements just in case my Iron levels are low.. I never bothered with Biotin since I have male pattern baldness.

The only chewables I used were for calcium since those are such horsepills, and I used them a lot longer than needed since I got a big bucketload from Bariatric Advantage. Most can get by on regular pills after a week or two, or when the major swelling in the stomach subsides, but certainly go with your surgeon's recommendation. The ASMBS recommendations harken back to RNY practice where there is a concern with pills getting stuck in the stoma, and since the majority of bariatric surgeons come from the RNY camp, that's what they put out as a blanket recommendation for everyone.

I take a regular multi vitamin now that I can tolerate larger amounts of water, my doctor said she was fine with that.  I still use the sugar free chew-able calcium, however.  My nutritionist and my doctor both heavily advised against gummies as they stated they lose their nutritional value when being put in gummy form, that and they add calories.

I bought enough chewable stuff to last me 90 days. Once I ran out I went with a plain multi and citracal, but I still do sublingual B12 lozenges. My surgeon was happy with whatever form we chose, as long as we took the proper doses every day.

Also your teeth...gummies can rot them.
