Alcohol

Well actually I am not a guy. I am a person who actually cares about people. I am sorry for my snarky remark. Alcohol is a very slippery slope. It impairs judgement.
We all want people to do well with having WLS. It sucks to tell people you had surgery and they tell you those wonderful stories about people who had WLS and who have not done well. Or they tell you about how someone gained all of their weight back.
Just be careful.

Yes, I said that because transfer addiction is a real thing that WLS patients should be aware of, not because I'm morally opposed to alcohol.

I'm not sure when people are cleared for carbonation...I guess that is a question for your doctor. My doc said no to carbonation forever. I had my first drink of alcohol at about 6 months. The first time I was SUPER careful because I had heard that i****s us harder... and it did for me. I have learned that if I'm going to drink anything I can't drive at all. It is not a chance I'm ever willing to take. (I was pretty much this strict with myself before WLS though too...although every once in a while I would have one drink with dinner and still drive home.) So, when I do drink, I usually drink something mixed with fruit juice, or, if the goal is to be drunk (which I'm guessing isn't the goal for you since it is social drinking for work) I just drink tequila. I'm sure there are a lot of people on here who would disagree with me, but I like to drink, I'm well aware of transfer addiction problems as well as the problem with alcoholism that already run rampant through my family. I think if you can drink responsibly and know the consequences of your actions (i.e. slower weight loss, etc) then do whatever you want to do. I typically drink a couple times a month depending on the month. I hope this helps. You are welcome to message me if you would like to have a civil conversation about this with someone who isn't completely against alcohol.

It's probably best to check with your doctor for sure. But I got the OK at about 6 months out if I let it go half flat, though I still had trouble with gas for a bit. Just make sure it's not linked with other habits, like eating junk food, and you can do it in moderation!

I tried to convince people that strippers and coke were commensurate with my job. I wish you better luck than I had.

How about convincing someone that the pounds of coke you're given are commensurate with the number of pounds you've lost???
