Update from the loser's bench!!
It's been over 24 hours now since my sleeve surgery. It's been a bit taxing, to say the least. I was extremely nauseous from all the anesthesia and pain medicine they gave me. I ended up in the recovery room for 3 hours because of it. They've since switched me to a different pain medication and I'm allowed to eat now, so I feel much better. Having an empty stomach for 36 hours didn't help much, but now that I have my Jello, water, and diet iced tea, I feel miles better. They didn't let me have anything for so long because they thought they were going to do an upper GI test, but then my doctor decided I didn't need it.
Protip: make sure they give you a cup of water and a sponge on a stick for keeping your mouth and tongue wet--I got so dry in the night and apparently I was white as a sheet. My husband has been taking awesome care of me and has kept my spirits up with his encouragement, even though he's still worried that this wasn't the right thing to do.
if I can keep taking in 1oz of water every half hour, which I'm not having any trouble doing, they'll let me go home later tonight. I hope they let me go because I miss my kitties so much.
