Exercise question

I'm seven months out and I consume approximately 800 calories a day.  I recently started water aerobics 1 hour four times a week.  When I record on my fitness pal, it counts at approximately 549 calories burned.  So in total that actually means I consume less than 300 calories a day.  My son says it's dangerous and risky for my heart to do that.  What do you all think? Safe or not?

It is safe.  You've still got lots of fat stores that your body needs to work through.  And caloric burn estimates are notoriously inaccurate.

Awesome that your son cares about you and is doing some math !!!!

A couple things...... you need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight. "Generally" you need to be negative 3500 calories to lose 1 pound.

Your exercise is doing your heart good...... only if you are consuming enough protein. Protein feeds and protects muscle tissue.

Like always..... confirm and check with your doctor.

I showed a negative caloric balance very consistently throughout most of my weight loss phase. I also dealt with low blood sugar issues, and still did not have any problem exercising/low calorie route. No worries :) Just pay attention to what your body tells you if you think low blood sugar might be an issue.

Safe, safe, safe...if it freaks you or your son out then stop logging your exercise in MFP or don't let him see the numbers.  You have more than enough body fat to pull from - your body will NOT pull what it needs from organs unless you aren't giving it enough protein.  And I'm sure you're diligent about that :-)

Going by what MyFitnesspal told me, I was in negative calories more often than not. I never ate back any exercise calories. It's a horrible idea.
